Exhibition Opening "Bodo Korsig - Break the Limits"
Sun, November 17, 2024, 12pmin the 2-Raum
Bodo Korsig’s work defies easy categorisation and alternates freely between spatial installations, sculpture, interactive video pieces and book art.
Born in Zwickau in 1962, Korsig studied in Berlin before embarking on a career that has taken him all over the world. After an extended and productive period in New York, he returned to Germany, where he teaches in Trier. His work is shown at art fairs, museums and galleries in Germany and internationally.
The organic structures of Korsig’s distinctive large-format black cut-outs have a suggestive power that transforms the spaces they are shown in into parallel worlds that can be read as striking artistic metaphors.
At Museum Art.Plus, Bodo Korsig is presenting a selection of works from the last five years: felt pieces, steel cut-outs and drawings, that offer an insight into his fascinating creative practice of developing forms that give expression to his interrogation of perception, consciousness and the depths of human existence. In keeping with the title of this exhibition – Break the Limits – Bodo Korsig has always pushed the boundaries of art and its genres. With his expansive installations, the artist invites the viewer, too, to test and boldly cross the limits.
